As part of his social responsibility, a member of the Bauchi state house of assembly representing Disina constituency of Shira local government of the state Honourable Sale Hodi has donated the sum of N10, 000 each to 120 petty traders drawn from various wards in his constituency.

Presenting the donation on Saturday, Hodi said the gesture was aimed at empowering the beneficiaries and boosting their businesses.

He said apart from the business men he donated the sum of N30, 000 to each of the 92 polling units in the district for the execution of minor community works.

This is even as the lawmaker promised that women would be assisted in the second phase of the empowerment program with the token amount of N5, 000 each to start small businesses so that they can be self reliant.

Also speaking, the special guest of honour at the event and speaker Bauchi state house of assembly Honourable Abubakar Suleiman hailed the law maker for the gesture saying elected politicians are duty bound to give back to their electorate.

The speaker also assured that members of the ninth assembly have zeal to provide dividends of democracy to their constituents through good lesgistlation and constituency projects.

In his speech, the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Alhaji Uba Nana represented by his vice Alhaji Hassan Muhammed Tilde said the party is still strong and formidable in the state having majority members in the assembly.

He added that the party is optimistic of reclaiming the governorship seat of the state at the court of appeal from the People's Democratic Party (PDP).
