As race for the Okigwe senatorial  seat
heats up in Imo State, prominent politician and former council boss,Hon Stanley Nzekwe has tipped the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate,
Senator Ifeanyi Ararume to win the contest next month.

In a chat with newsmen at Okigwe, Nzekwe, expressed his desire to have Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, represent the region at upper chamber of the National Assembly ahead of the October 31 bye-election, for a change in status quo, and for the sake of progress in Okigwe zone.

The former council boss opined that there was an urgent need to attract sustainable development to the area which has faced utter neglect for so long.

According to him,judging by the strength of character of Senator Ifeanyi Ararume and his legislative antecedents he is the best man for the position.

However two candidates have emerged as winners in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Primary election for the Imo North Senatorial District by-election.

The elections conducted by two factions of the party were across the six local government areas and 64 wards, through the direct mode of primaries on Thursday.

The parallel results after the conduct of the exercise produced Ifeanyi Ararume as the winner of one of the APC factions scoring 22,944 votes.
