As countdown to the one hundred and fifty years anniversary of Opobo Kingdom in the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria begins,a Director in the Rivers State Ministry of Information,Mr Celestine Ogolo said he has concluded arrangements to present to the public a book titled, 'Opobo Kingdom:150 Years After..Socio-Economic Dynamics For New Horizons'.
According to a press release issued in Port Harcourt,the event is slated for the 14/12/2020 at Nigerian Bar Association Complex,Port Harcourt.

Former Governor of the State,Sir Celestine Omehia will be Special Guest of Honour,while lawmaker representing Andoni/Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives,Hon Abiante Inombek will be Guest of Honour.
Other dignitaries are, Paulinus Nsirim,Commissioner for Information and Communications in Rivers State.

The Chairman of Opobo Kingdom Title Holders Association,Amaopusenibo Bobo Sofiri Brown will deliver a lecture titled, 'Opobo Kingdom in the next half a century' as part of the programme.

The book reviewer is former Dean,Faculty of Social Sciences,Ignatius Ajuru University of Education,Rumuolumeni,Port Harcourt,Prof Alafuro Epelle.

The Amanyanabo of Opobo and Chairman Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers,King Dandeson Douglas Jaja will be the Royal Father of the Day.

The book is said to be receiving rare reviews in international journals and has been described as a watershed in the history of Opobo Kingdom,with critical implications for the Niger Delta Region,Nigeria-European relations and as one of the most impressive,informative and intellectually stimulating works on the land and people of Opobo.
